Redefining the “Good Bloke”: Behind Our Movember x NRL Campaign

Every year, Movember partners with major Australian brands and sporting codes to push men’s health further into the mainstream conversation. In June 2026, Cass Brothers Productions was brought on to shoot a social media campaign for Movember’s collaboration with the NRL — three videos built around a single question: what does it actually mean to be a “good bloke” in 2026?

The brief

Movember wanted to move past the tough-guy stereotype and get honest about fatherhood and mental health, in a way that would land with footy fans and everyday Australian men — a tricky brief in a category that often defaults to platitudes. The goal was authentic, unscripted-feeling content rather than a polished ad.

On location with the NRL Blues

We shot on location at NRL Australia with players from the Blues team, structuring the sessions as candid conversations rather than interviews. That approach gave us real moments — players talking through the pressure of fatherhood, the habit of bottling things up, and what it took to change that — instead of rehearsed soundbites.

The deliverables

Three vertical (9:16) social videos, edited for feed and Stories placement, released across Movember and NRL channels in June 2026. The brief called for content that could carry a campaign message without feeling like a PSA, and the finished cuts lean on pacing and honesty rather than production polish to do that.

Why this kind of shoot matters

Cause-led campaigns like this live or die on whether the content feels real. That’s the same instinct we bring to every corporate and social shoot — strip out anything that feels staged, and let the subject actually talk. If you’re planning a social campaign that needs to build trust rather than just impressions, this is the kind of production approach we’d bring to it.
